What’s in episode 109?

In this episode, we’re joined by Vicki O’Callaghan, owner of Babyboo.ie — one of Ireland’s go-to destinations for parents shopping for their little ones. Vicki’s story is one a lot of Irish business owners will relate to. She’d built Babyboo on WordPress and, like many growing e-commerce stores, reached a point where the platform was holding her back more than helping her move forward.

Last year, Milk Bottle Labs worked with Vicki to replatform Babyboo.ie onto Shopify — a move that has opened up a whole new chapter for the business. In this conversation, we get into the nitty-gritty of that journey: what was working on WordPress, what wasn’t, why she decided to make the switch, and how the migration involved preparing to import store data, verifying products, customising the website theme for the Shopify store and setting up shipping and payment providers. It also needed a clear plan to protect SEO, sales, and the customer experience throughout the switch. Our team had to audit and clean product data and customer data before import into the new Shopify store.

If you’re a business owner sitting on the fence about replatforming, or you’re just curious about what goes into moving a real, operating Irish e-commerce store from one platform to another, there’s a lot to take away from this conversation. You can also find us on YouTube.
