Shopifysurprised store owners recently with the announcement that it's e-commerce platform users can activate improved shop security at no cost.
'we’re pushing for a safer, more secure internet by ensuring all pages, content, data...everything, on all 200,000+ online stores powered by Shopify can be accessed using SSL encryption. Not only will this ensure that no data could be intercepted as it goes over the network, but it will also help merchants build customer trust. This is the right thing for ecommerce in 2016'.
SSL certificates help ensure that the connection between a web server and a browser is secure and that data transfer is protected from attack. Shopify says it plans to join Facebook, Mozilla and Google to sponsor Let's Encrypt, an industry lead plan to improve security across the internet.
There's also search ranking benefits for store owners too. Since August 2014 Googlehas been recognising the addition of SSL certificates.
So how do you switch it on? Easy. Log into your admin panel and click Activate SSL certificates.
