Last week we mentioned the importance of adding mobile to your store and Shopifys built in capabilities. We advise all Shopify clients to only choose a new store theme provided it has full mobile capability. Just after Christmas, Shopify anounced a milestone - that for the first time, over 50% of traffic to its stores were from mobile.
By pure coincidence, Google announced this week the of your sites mobile abilities will be part of the searching ranking.
Google's mobile ranking algorithm will officially include mobile-friendly usability factors. Making sure your site is mobile-friendly is now more important than ever and can have an immediate impact on your search results.
So what does that exactly mean? Well from April 21st 2015 April 21, 2015, Google’s mobile ranking factors will not only list your site as mobile-friendly, but will also use that to determine if your site should rank higher in the search results. And according to Google, this algorithmic change will have a “significant impact” in the mobile search results, across all languages.
